BabyScraps.com Compatibility with Scrapbook Max Software
Sep 30th, 2006 by wwaddell
Hi Computer Scrapbook Friend,
This is pretty exciting, so I just had to post a quick note.
We were contacted by the Indigo Rose Software Company this last week in regards to their new scrapbook community and they wanted to list our site on their site as a source for templates that were compatible with their software.
Well, as you can guess, we checked them out and had a wonderful talk with Brett, one of their VPs. Brett set us up with a full copy of the software so that we could verify it’s compatibility and ease of use.
WoW! And that’s an understatement.
We had a chance today to spend several hours working with the software and our templates and embellishments. It was just soooo easy to use and made anything else we have ever used and tested for doing digital scrapbooks look like the garbage.
We were able to insert our new Baby Book Scrapbook page templates with no changes, add our photos and some journaling and print in less than 5 minutes with no reading the instructions. As a matter of fact, the only slow down was finding how to crop one of my photos to fit inside the frame.
And here’s the best part, the software let us create a screen saver, a slide show, a PDF and a template for others to use just by selecting menu options. We were also able to send the pages by e-mail and put them on CD and DVD automatically.
To be honest, we did find two missing components and one small bug that does affect some of our templates.
Here’s what was missing or didn’t work.
We found that there was no way to rotate or wrap journaling text. I know, it’s not something most people need or use very often, but it comes in handy once and a while. There is also no eraser tool or any way to change the colors of your clipart like we can in OpenOffice. Again, pretty minor, but useful from time to time.
Here’s the one bug we found in the software.
The one bug we found is one that we are beginning to see in several of the new photo editing and graphics software. It seems that the new graphic environments are trying to eliminate the hold on web graphics formats that the GIF format has. Like several of the other software companies, Scrapbook Max has chose not to recognize transparent areas in GIF files. The new PNG format works great, but GIF transparent areas show as solid white.
What’s that mean to you, our members?
Well, what it means is that our 3 newest sites, BabyScraps.com (baby book Scrapbook templates), TwasTheNightScrapbook.com (Christmas Storybook Scrapbook Templates) and our PC-ScrapbookElements.com (elements, frames and embellishments) sites all are 100% compatible since all the scrapbook templates on that site are in the new .PNG format.
The rest of our sites that use the more compatible GIF format are only partially compatible with the Scrapbook Max software. All the frames page templates transparent areas will be solid white. That means that if you want to use them, you will have to put your photo’s on top and size the images to match the approximate size of the frame.
The good news is that Scrapbook Max comes with lots of shape tools to make your photos all different shapes and it has a great selection of frame styles that you can put on top of these pages. Our scrapbook background and scrapbook journaling pages will work as backgrounds in Scrapbook Max with no changes.
We are testing the graphics packing tools that come with the software now, so stay tuned for lots more on this. Those of you that are using our JV partner, RealBook-Scrapbooks.com, I think that you’re going to really love what this software can do for you when it comes time to put your next scrapbook on CD and send it in. we’re working on templates now so all you do is insert your images and the software will take care of most of the work for you.
Can’t wait to test this some more in the next couple of days.
It’s late and I realize that I’m rambling a bit, so I think I’ll sum this up.
If you are looking for the easiest to use scrapbook software on the market and also want one that has most of the capabilities needed for many of the advanced digital scrapbook pages you see all over the place. then you need to consider giving Scrapbook Max a try.
There’s even a FREE trial of the software on the site.
We are continuing to test the software, so we’ll let you know how it goes in the next few days.
Until next time… happy Scrappin’
