Erasing template openings in PSP X.
If you open a gif template in PSP X, it doesn’t recognize the transparent openings. To erase these filled frame openings, choose your background eraser (it is the icon with the pencil eraser showing that it is erasing a light blue background).
With this tool selected, you will notice that you can set the properties. You can change the size, hardness, density, etc.
If your frame was created using anti-alias (making the edges soft and slightly blurred) then you will need to set your tolerance fairly high. If it is a dark colored template with white photo boxes, you will need to set the tolerance to 100.
Also, you must make sure that the limits are set to contigious. This means that your eraser will only erase the white parts that connect.
For example, if you have white on any other part of the page it will not erase that too. However if you have it set to discontigious, it will erase any white coloring that is within your brush parameters, including the non-connected colors.
Now, just click your brush inside the frame opening and it will begin to erase all the selected color within the opening. As long as you do not touch the frame edge color with your background eraser, it will only erase the color that you have selected.
