Scrapbook Mail Tale of Woe…

Nov 16th, 2007 by wwaddell

Hello Scrapbook Friend,

I know it’s a little bit late on a Friday, but we’ve been working hard to restore our mail system after our (old) server provider fell down on the job. I also know many of our clients received some old repeat messages.

Kathy and I are so sorry about that. Below, if you are interested is the long story of what happened and what we’ve gone through to be able to communicate with you again. But, first, a couple of over due notes about what’s going on with the members areas.

Kathy will be removing Autumn 22 through Autumn 24 on both the 8.5×11 and 12×12 members areas the end of the month to make room for new Autumn sets. Now’s the time to get them if you want the old ones and download them to your own computers.

In case you didn’t get the original message… And most didn’t due to our mail problems: Kathy added some new Halloween and Thanksgiving stationery download (no cost to anyone) on the www.1-Computer-Stationery.com site. There’s also lots of f_re-e cards there too now. And, scrapbookers will love using the stationeries for scrapbook backgrounds and journaling pages too.

That’s it for the site updates… Now if you are interested, let me tell you a long story of woe.

It’s all my fault… well at least some of it was. To be honest, our (EX) mail system provider crashed our service two weeks ago yesterday. After 8 days, they still hadn’t even begun to fix it and wouldn’t even talk to me about what was going on. So, for lack of service and support we had to move our system to a new company. Two problems with that… first, we had to use a 5 month old backup to restore most of it (the old company wouldn’t provide up-to-date ones), which meant the system was a little out of date and we had to restore it to present day by hand.

The second problem came when the first company we moved it to decided to dump 75% of all mails we sent out. Not a good thing. So, as of three days ago, we leased our own server so we could control what was on it and how it worked. That meant installing (again) with backups that were close to being up-to-date, but not fully finished yet and again, sending out some old mails to some before we could stop them. I’m working hard to finish the updates by today.

I know, long story, but I felt that you deserved to know what has really been going on. We tried to let everyone know what was happening, but that’s how we found out the one company was just dumping most of our messages. So, here we are today, almost recovered finally, but with a lot of confused and (in a few cases) upset friends and clients.

That’s the full story of our tale of woe. Your membership is fine, we just have been going through some really painful times with our mail system.

I hope you’ll forgive the extra repeated mails.

As always, if anything looks out of place or doesn’t make sence to you, just ask and we’ll do our best to let you know what is going on.

Happy Scrappin’

Kathy & Wes
