50th Anniversary Guestbook Scrapbook

Hi Digital Scrapbook Friend,

Christmas is over and the new year is only a couple more days away…

Hope all your scrapbook gifts were as big a hit as the ones we gave were.  My mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary party album and guest book was a smashing success!  We took all the comment cards that we had at the door and scanned them in to digital form. We then combined them with the photos we took of the family and friends that went with each note.  We put it all together in an 8×8 book so it was easy to store and travel with.

Here’s one of the finished computer scrapbook pages so you can see what I’m talking about.

Donna and Leo's 50th Anniversary Guestbook Scrapbook digital scrapbook page example.

This is my mom and her niece… Can you tell what a great time she had?

The look on my moms face and the smiles, even from my dad, said it all.  The perfect memory of a very treasured moment in time.

Now’s the time to start planing your gifts for next year. If you know of any special events coming up, now is the time to plan ahead and to get the note cards and photographers (even if that’s you) prepped with what you plan to do.

Don’t forget the photo’s of where the event took place and photos of the party favors and decorations.

Before I forget, Kathy wants me to let you know that she’s removing a few more of the old GIF format scrapbook sets by January 15th:

12×12 sets:
winter 22 thru 25.

8.5×11 sets:
Winter 19 thru 21.

You are going to love the new sets she has for the middle of the month…

Speaking of new sets…

Kathy just added:

3 new baptism sets, 6 Christmas sets and 3 winter scrapbook papers sets to the 8.5×11 and 12×12 members areas.

She also just added 13 new autumn stationeries to the FREE www.1-computer-stationery.com site with Autumn 451 thru 463. Don’t forget, thise make great digital scrapbook background and journaling pages too.

Now, it’s time for you to start planning your next scrapbook project.

Just a little planning up front and a few notes or a simple checklist will help you make sure that you don’t miss any of the really important parts.

  • Photos of Location
  • Photos of Party Favors and Decorations
  • Blank White Note Cards for guests to leave comments and best wishes on (white scans easier and can be made transparent to fit any final background setting)
  • Dark Felt Tip or Acid Free Gell Pens – Dark Colors scan better.
  • Don’t forget to get plenty of candid photos to go with all the family and friends poseing…
  • Note pad to get everyones names – Don’t trust your memory with distant reletives and old friends.
  • Your notes on who was wearing what and who was with who will help with group and candid photo identification later.
  • Make sure that the people taking the photos aren’t tasked with other details such as food prep or cleanup.  Some of the best shots will happen when you are not there and will be missed.

Those are just a few of the things (some we found out the hard way about) that you need to plan for.  I’m sure with a little thought on your part, you can come up with a few more from your past experiences too.

If you do have other ideas, don’t hesitate to leave your comments here for others to learn from too.

Now, it’s time for you to put ink to paper and get the pre-planning done.

By the way, if your new years projects include a new 2008 photo calendar, don’t forget that you can get your hands on our no_costfree photo calendar templates at: www.FreeScrapbookTraining.com along with lots of photo greeting cards template downloads too.

Happy New Year,

Kathy and Wes

Heritage Scrapbook Sayings: How to Stay Young

Posted on December 24th, 2007 by wwaddell.

By George Carlin

HOW TO STAY YOUNG:

  1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height.  Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay “them.”
  2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
  3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.
  4. Enjoy the simple things.
  5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
  6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
  7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
  8. Cherish your health : If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
  9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
  10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity..

————————————————-

Kathy and I love putting quotes and scrapbook poems like this on our heritage scrapbook pages… actually, we love putting sayings like this on all our digital scrapbook pages.

May you live to be a healthy 100 and a half…

FREE Scrapbook Digital Staionery Training…

FREE Scrapbook Digital Staionery Training…  What to do if your printer doesn’t print borderless.

Hi Scrapbook Friend,

We got a really nice note from one of our FREE Digital Stationery users yesterday and she was nice enough to follow up today with instruction on how she solved her digital stationery problems using her MS Word software.

Kathy and I wanted to pass it along to you so you could benifit from what Patricia showed us…

From: Patricia Ann Meyer

Glad to have made your day … The day I found the www.1-Computer-Stationery.com FREE digital stationery and got that problem out of the way made mine.

Just FYI: I did notice the Word templates. But, there was a little problem with the templates and my printer, because the templates are “edge to edge,” and my printer, which is a little Xerox Phaser color laser lover, doesn’t print quite edge to edge. I think most photo printers do, but a general purpose printer doesn’t necessarily. So, the outer edge of the pictures was cut off, which just didn’t quite look right to me. If anyone else has this problem, and needs help, this is what I did to create my digital stationaries for my version of MS Word:

1. Take the www.1-Computer-Stationery.com “jpg” of your selected stationery, import it into your photo editor, and resize it to 8″ across. This is an easy number to remember, and will give you 1/4″ extra paper on the sides and a tad more at the top and bottom. Save your smaller picture.

2. Open your new Word document. Set your page margins to .25″ all around. This is “file” “page setup” “margins.”

3. Choose “insert” “picture” “from file” and then browse for your saved, smaller picture. Your top and side margins will be the .25″ that you just set, and you will have a little extra space at the bottom.

4. To center your picture, click in your picture. Then choose “format” “picture.” Then choose “layout” “behind text.” “OK” that. Then choose “format” “picture” “layout” (again) and then “advanced” “picture position.” Then, for both horizontal and vertical “alignment,” choose “centered” “relative to page.” Uncheck “move with text.” Choose “OK” twice. Your picture is now within your print area, and centered on your paper.

4. Type your letter. To start, your text will be smushed up against your upper left corner, so you will move it with paragraph formatting. Choose all of your text with “ctrl-A.” Select your font, color, whatever. To set your side margins, choose “format” “paragraph” “indentation” and set the “left” and “right” indents to be the margin you want. For example, if you want 1-inch margins, set the indents to 1″. Some of the papers do not have an all-over pattern. In that event, you will want to set the indent at .75″ because you already have .25″. Click anywhere in your letter to unhighlight your text. To set your top margin, click anywhere in your first paragraph. Then choose “format” “paragraph” “spacing” “before.” Then, put in enough space to clear your top design and whatever extra space you want, say, 2″. Your text will now be spaced however you want it on top of your picture.

5. If your stationery has an all-over texture background, after you have printed, trim off the little border of white paper. This will make your letter roughly 8″ x 10.25″, but I don’t imagine anyone will notice that!

Hope I have helped out someone with these instructions, and made a little contribution to your site!

How Much is a Billion??

Posted on December 7th, 2007 by wwaddell.
Categories: My Thoughts.

Just got this from one of my mentors and just had to pass it on.

How much is a BILLION??  I am sure you will all find a way to use this.  Many thanks to my long time friend Craig A. Marshall from Pittsburgh, PA, but he wishes he was from

Beaver Falls.

Craig, thanks for sharing this with us.

The next time you hear a politician use the word “billion” in a casual manner, think about whether you want the “politicians” spending YOUR tax money.  A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.

  • A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

  • A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

  • A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

  • A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

  • A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it. While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let’s take a look at New Orleans It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild

New Orleans.  Interesting number, what does it mean?

  • Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of

New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.

  • Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in

New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787.

  • Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D.C... HELLO!!! … Are all your calculators broken??

 Tax his land,

 Tax his wage,

Tax his bed in which he lays.

 Tax his tractor,

 Tax his mule,

Teach him taxes is the rule.

 Tax his cow,

 Tax his goat,

 Tax his pants,

Tax his coat.  Tax his ties,

 Tax his shirts,

 Tax his work,

Tax his dirt.  Tax his tobacco,

 Tax his drink,

Tax him if he tries to think.  Tax his booze,

 Tax his beers,

 If he cries,

Tax his tears.  Tax his bills,

 Tax his gas,

 Tax his notes,

Tax his cash.  Tax him good and let him know

That after taxes, he has no dough.  If he hollers,

 Tax him more,

Tax him! until he’s good and sore.  Tax his coffin,

 Tax his grave,

Tax the sod in which he lays.

Put these words upon his tomb,

”Taxes drove me to my doom!”  And when he’s gone,

 We won’t relax,

We’ll still be after the inheritance TAX!!  Accounts Receivable Tax

 Building Permit Tax

 CDL License Tax

 Cigarette Tax

 Corporate Income Tax

 Dog License Tax

 Federal Income Tax

 Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)

 Fishing License Tax

 Food License Tax

 Fuel Perm it Tax

 Gasoline Tax

 Hunting License Tax

 Inheritance Tax

 Inventory Tax

IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax),

IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax),

 Liquor Tax,

 Luxury Tax,

 Marriage License Tax,

 Medicare Tax,

 Property Tax,

 Real Estate Tax,

 Service charge taxes,

 Social Security Tax,

 Road Usage Tax (Truckers),

 Sales Taxes,

 Recreational Vehicle Tax,

 School Tax,

 State Income Tax,

 State Unemployment Tax (SUTA),

 Telephone Federal Excise Tax,

Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax,

Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Tax,

 Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax,

Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax,

 Telephone State and Local Tax,

 Telephone Usage Charge Tax,

 Utility Tax,

 Vehicle License Registration Tax,

 Vehicle Sales Tax,

 Watercraft Registration Tax,

 Well Permit Tax,

 Workers Compensation Tax.

 STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom could stay home to raise the kids.

What happened?  Can you spell ‘politicians!’

And I still have to “press 1″ for English in the United States of America…

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times

 What the heck happened?????
