Last year so many of you supported Alabama’s foster children by participating in the 2007 Shoe Drive. What an exciting event that was. This year the group is at it again and so I pass along the 2008 Spring Project – Sock It To Us!Â
Please help where you can and please pass along this information to others that might be interested.
Sock it to Us!Â

We need your help by donating items, as a collection drop off point in your area, and spreading the word in your local community.
Monetary donations will also be appreciated and are tax deductible.

Hi Scrapbook Friend,
Sorry I’m a little late with your Scrapbook News this week. Kathy has been really busy and we wanted to get all the new FREE scrapbook backgrounds and stationery uploaded for you before we sent out our notice. I also have just a couple of reminders for you as you head into the weekend.

For our Platinum Members, Kathy has also put the new End of Month (Jan 2008) sets into the 8.5×11 and 12×12 sections. She just added some new elements:
Now, for everyone… Including you, she just added more FREE Scrapbook Backgound pages and Digital Stationery to the www.1-Computer-Stationery.com site.
You’ll now find Backgrounds 85 thru 96 waiting for you. You’ll really love this one too. Kathy just finished replacing the entire first page of the children’s stationery section with Children 382 thru 394.
Your kids are going to love using these for their letters to friends and for their school reports.
With Easter just on the horizon… Kathy also just added some new religious stationeries too: Religious 332 thru 334
So, let’s sum it all up real quick before I finish…
And… Newly remodeled and low cost Gold Membership option for those on a tight budget.
Yes, we have been busy and yes there’s a lot more to come this year. But, if you still can’t find what you need or you have any ideas for new sets or new membership… PLEASE don’t hesitate to let us know. After all, it’s your scrapbook!
Happy Scrappin’

Hi Scrapbook Friend,
We got another one of those really great questions again today from one of our readers.Â
Kathy and I thought that many of you might want to use her idea for your own life book scrapbooks. Hopefully some of our scrapbook tips here will help you get started in the right direction.

I am going to start a book for my daughter for her 21st birthday..  Â
I have lots of printed pictures and some digital  pictures. Also I want to put in her art work etc that has been sitting in boxes collecting dust. Also want to put a section in for medical information. Â
Would any books that you have work for this project? Â
I would like to have it bound like a hardbound book when completed.   Have you done any life books, if you have what is the best way to organize the material?  I need to complete this by this Oct.  2008Thanks for any help you can give me.Â

Here’s what we said:
Hi Janet,
We are doing something close to that for our grandkids.Â
Here’s what Kathy and I would recommend:
Sounds like you have a very large project ahead of you and it sounds like you will probably end up with a lot more pages than just a single theme scrapbook.
Suggestion #1: Do it chronologically from birth to current. That way, as you create the pages and you get to between 40 and 60 completed, you can have that made into Volume 1 (maybe birth to the first day of school or ????) and the next group into volume two and so on. We found that that was the only way we could keep up with all the wonderful things in their lives and not have a 200 page book that we still had to leave things out of because we just didn’t have room. It also give you a way to have at least one volume published within your deadline and you can keep going from there for as long as you wish to go…
Just as a side note, we are on Volume two with our 9 year old and have over 150 pages so far between the two volumes. We are having them bound by the folks at RealBooks-Scrapbooks.com as we go. Just to let you know that RealBooks can bind up to 200 pages in a single book and it is still less than 2 inches thick.
Due to the diverse subject matter (lots of different event themes), we are using pages from all our membership areas. Our best option for you would be the Platinum Membership with all 9 areas available to you. If you are on a tight budget, then our Gold Membership (either 8.5×11 or 12×12) is the economy option. You can find out all about what all they include at: www.MyPrincessCrafts.com and we are here to answer any questions you may still have from there.
I would also suggest that as you scan in her artwork, use some of them as backgrounds for your digital scrapbook project and maybe even use some of them as clipart (shrunk if needed) to add to more of the pages. You’ll also find that some of your photos will make great scrapbook backgrounds to add other images and journaling too.
I don’t know how advanced a digital scrapbooker you are, but our 101 course is at no cost if you are just starting out at: www.ComputerScrapbookTraining.com
If you are an advanced digital scrapbooker that likes to make your own pages and designs, then you may also want to check out our Kit site at: www.ScrapbookKitsnBits.com.
Hope this helps to at least get you started. If you need any clarification or if this brought up any new questions… just ask.
