5 Easy Scrapbook Tips and News

I have just a little news for you today on what’s going on with your members areas and what’s coming soon. 

Then, I have a few little scrapbook tips that people sent me off Twitter this week.

First, here’s what’s happened so far this month:

I will be removing the floral category the end of June so be sure and get any of the old scrapbook template pages you want now.

I will also be removing the Headers, Mini-Pages and Occupations categories the middle of June to make room for all the newly updated scrapbook page sets.

I have already replaced the Numbers category with a brand new number element clipart area.

I have also added the new Free page toppers throughout the PrincessCrafts.com site for our NON-Members and paced them all on a single page for our members in the 8.5x member’s area.

Yesterday I got around to adding new Father’s Day papers to both the 8.5x and 12x areas as well as in the new Landscape categories.

I just replaced all the chilren’s bookmarks on our kids free stuff page on PrincessCrafts.com and I’m making some new stationery for 1-Computer-Stationery.com and I’ll have them loaded this weekend.

What’s coming soon:

We have been hinting at a new Wedding Scrapbook site now for a couple of months.  Well, Wes has been uploading the new scrapbook template pages this week and is almost done.  Once they are uploaded, we’ll be opening the area for our Platinum Members first.  Then, we’ll open them to the public when the new website is finished.

5 Easy Scrapbook Tips

1.  Most flowers & plants are not scrapbook safe – even dried. They contain acids, and harmful gases.  If you are going to place them in your scrapbook with photos, be sure and seal them in an air tight bag or even better, coat them with a scrapbook safe clear spray coating.

2.  Use the dictionary as a journal prompt – writers block or hung up on what to say to open a new journaling note… open up the dictionary, close your eyes and choose a random word on the page.  Now, read the defenition (if you don’t know what it is) and start writing memories!

3.  What to do when scrapping with low-res or small photos (like the ones from your camera phone).  Easiest solution is to just print them small and use them that way. They’ll look much clearer and you can compensate with lots more photos on the page! The alternate solutions is to print them out small, then scan them at a very high resolution like 800 or 1200 ppi.  Then print the new scan as a larger size print.

4.  When making a mini scrapbook album by hand in a hurry, use the same structure on each page to speed up the hand scrap process. This will save you lots of time as you can cut out elements for each page in advance and all at once.  Of course, the better solution is to create the mini-scrapbook album digitally using digital scrapbook templates. This way, you can very the design of each page, but create the whole album in a fraction of the time it would take to do it with the old fashioned hand scrap process.

5.  My final scrapbook tip for today is to “just have fun.”  Sometimes you need to stop planning every little detail and just create intuitively as you go.  It may amaze you to put a stop watch to your planning process sometime and see just how much time it takes up for your scrapbooking.

You are going to love what we have been up do the last few weeks.  REALLY!

So with no further adue…

Let's start off with something for everyone.  I just put a brand new mini-page on and it's all ready for downloading on our PrincessCrafts digital scrapbook homepage. No signups or hassels, just head on over and get it. It's a great winter time photo greeting page and should be perfect for you to use to send photo greetings to your family and friends.

For our 8.5×11 and 12×12 members – Your End of the Month additions:

I've replaced the entire first page of the animal category in the Soft Expressions (Computer Scrapbook Layouts) 8.5×11 and the Printable Pastels 12×12 areas of the sites with all new sets.

I've also added totally new Landscape paper sets for the Animal, Halloween and Thanksgiving categories under the Scrapbook of a Lifetime members area of the site.  All our platinum and gold members have instant access to the new sets.

With that I also replaced the 2 metal charm aqlphabets (Gold and Silver versions) on PC Scrapbook-Elements area with new versions. I also added to the brand new letter category with 21 6-piece sets of Gold Alph Letter Words.

I know, that's a mouth full, but it's some really great elements for you to use to create titles and phrases of your own with.

What's next to be removed and replaced…

I will be replacing the Halloween and Thanksgiving category for the Soft Expressions and Printable Pastels members areas the end of November. So, if there are any of those scrapbook page templates you want and didn't download yet, go get them now.

As part of our site consolidation and updates, we'll be totally closing down the Scrapbook Kits -n- Bits (not a part of any membership currently) site.  Most of it's parts and pieces will be slowly added to our PC-ScrapbookElements members area.

We'll also be adding some new A4 versions of our 1-Computer-Stationery in the coming weeks so our European friends won't have to do miss out.

Oh, one last quick note:

We are moving some of the public sites to more secure servers, so you may see some short drops in availability this next week.  They should be short in duration if you see any at all.

PrincessCrafts Monthly Digital Scrapbook News

Welcome to PrincessCrafts Digi-Scrap News.

Yes, as always, I’ve been very busy creating new digital scrapbook template downloads and scrapbook elements.  We have been the camp host at Lake Easton State Park in Washington State now all month.  The fall colors are coming out and it’s got me thinking about harvest, halloween and the upcoming holiday season. 

I’m not yet ready for the colder weather, but at the same time I’m really excited about the coming holidays and the time with family and friends.  What about you, are you ready for the colder weather?  Have you got your gift list started for the Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza season?  I know that from personal experience that if you plan early, then there’s not the last minute rush and associated stress that comes with it.

I’ve already started on my scrapbook, memory book, vacation memory book and storybook scrapbooks that I’m giving this year. 

With that in mind, I wanted to let you know that some of the digital scrapbook templates are going to dissappear from our members areas to be replaced by new higher quality digi-scrap template downloads.

1. I’m replacing all the landscape format pages starting in October 2009.
2. Scrapbook of a Lifetime is dissappearing completely and new touch of color templates are going into the 8.5×11 and 12×12 areas.
3. Our mini-scrapbook pages are also going away and finding new ones showing up in the other members areas.
4. Last, but not least, all of our FREE scrapbook templates for the Computer Scrapbooking 101 course are being replaced with the new higher quality .png format papers.

It’s time we finish bringing all 9 of the scrapbook websites that we have into the main members areas so that things are easier to find and much less confusing to our new members. 

By the way, if you have ideas on how to better arrange the menu’s or of digital scrapbook themes that you want to see, we would love to hear from you.  After all, it’s your site and you should get a say in how it looks and works… don’t you think?

NEW FREE SCRAPBOOK CONTENT:

I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks adding more free stuff to the public sites. 

If you’ve been keeping up, you already know about the 2010 Photo Calendar template downloads at: www.FREEScrapbookTraining.com that we updated last month.
